Hello everybody, and welcome to this page, which has been put up specifically for those of you who are attending, or thinking of attending one of the shows on my upcoming “Tales From Wrestling Past” UK tour from April 24 – May 12. I can tell, by way of Twitter, that there are many questions out there, and instead of trying to answer all of them on a case-by-case basis, I’ll see if I can’t address them RIGHT HERE (you fill in the name of your city. Most of the questions seem to revolve around a few basic themes: 1) What do you do in your show? 2) What’s the deal with the meet & greets, and 3) When are you coming/why aren’t you coming to (fill in the name of your town)? I will try to answer all of these questions and more on this page.
WHAT KIND OF SHOW DO I DO?
Good question. I really should have done a much better job getting out clips regularly in order to show people what I do. Honesltly, I thought WWE was going to take me under their promotional wing this year, and take care of all my video/promotional needs. I still think they eventually will. Almost everyone who comes to my shows “GET’S IT”; gets that what i do onstage is a natural extension of what I’ve done in wrestling – not a dramatic departure. I wish I’d never labeled what I do as “comedy”. It’s much more of “An Evening With” or a “spoken word” show, with an emphasis on humor. I tell stories, not jokes, and not every story has to be funny. Most of my stories will induce laughter, but others will induce winces..or even a tear; sometimes all three within a single story.
This time around, I am calling my tour “Tales From Wrestling Past” to let fans know that this is a WRESTLING show, by a WRESTLER, for WRESTLING fans. While I had a great time on my 2011 and 2012 UK tours, there was still a big part of me that needed to prove to myself and others that I could out on a good show without having having everything revolve around wrestling. So some of the shows had more wrestling content than others. THEN..I went to the two biggest comedy festivals in the world – Edinburgh and Montreal – and realized how lucky I was to have an audience that knew me, and liked me, and was actually interested in hearing what I had to say. But instead of welcoming them, I was kind of chasing them away, by not realizing I needed to be doing what it was that people would be willing to part with their hard earned money for. I’m not saying I won’t go off on the occasional tangent, and include topics outside of sports-entertainment, but I’ll make sure I always get back to what it is you came to hear me talk about. So WRESTLING will be the key word here. I’ll try out new stuff on a nightly basis. Like my promos, some of it will work better than others. But when things work, they’ll work really well – which is good. And when they fail. they’ll fail spectacularly – which is even better.GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!
